Chiropractic

Jay P. Bertsch, D.C.

“I became a chiropractor because it is the health profession most congruent with my philosophy of helping people lead healthier lives. Helping to alleviate pain is great, but even more satisfying is when patients do things they never have done before, or thought they had to give up. To be the best doctor I can be for every patient, I know that relying on my years of experience is not enough. That is why I am committed to the ongoing study of the latest in treatment and research concerning an optimally functioning body. Every visit I strive to serve patients in a manner that brings them closer to being truly healthy. At Team Health Care we are blessed to have doctors and therapists from different specialties. We work as a team by directing patients to whoever will help them the most, utilizing each other’s gifts and abilities for the betterment of every patient who walks through our door.”

Dr. Jay has more than 300 hours of post-graduate studies in neurology with an emphasis in dizziness and balance disorders, ADD, ADHD, concussion, migraines, anxiety, sleep disorders and others. He has extensive experience in treating serious disc problems. Since 1998 Dr. Jay has helped countless patients with allergies using NAET technique.

He has been regularly involved with connecting adoptive families with needy orphans in Columbia through the FANA orphanage.

Joseph Bertsch, D.C.

“I knew I wanted to be in the health care field even as a child. As I explored the different options, chiropractic care was the perfect fit for my philosophy on health. I am even more energized about our mission now than I was when I started practice. In those days, it often felt like we chiropractors were whistling in the dark. There just wasn’t as much interest in non-traditional treatments. Now, as a nation, we are looking for other options besides medication and surgery. While they have their place, I believe holistic care should come first, with medications and surgery the “alternative” when natural methods aren’t enough. By offering the many natural treatment options that we do at Team Health Care Clinic, PC, we can help the body draw from its innate ability to heal itself. It’s an exciting time to be in practice and I am so thankful that God has placed me with such a committed
team, each of whom shares my vision.”

Dr. Joe Bertsch has post doctorate training in treating balance, dizziness, and vestibular disorders. He also has training in brain-based therapy for conditions such as ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s and depression. He holds free community education classes to educate people on how to take charge of their health by making better lifestyle choices and becoming active participants in their own health care program. Dr. Joe and his wife, Therese, are busy raising five healthy and active children in Andover.

“I was never treated by a chiropractor prior to my first day at chiropractic school. As I learned about the chiropractic philosophy and lifestyle, it made perfect sense, and I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. I like to think I am a bit of a teacher myself- helping my patients to learn more and take charge of their health as a result. The biggest reward for me is giving someone their life back by helping to restore their health. How many places get to see people enter the office with a cane or walker and leave without it? It is just one example of how people’s lives can be changed when they come to this clinic. I’m glad to be a part of that.”

Dr. Tim Bertsch was awarded  Board Certification as a Clinical Internist in 2000.  He has extensive training and experience in treating internal disorders using a functional medicine approach including applying nutrition, diet and natural health products rather than drugs. There are less than a few hundred of these highly trained doctors in the country so we are blessed to have Dr. Tim on our team! When he’s not at the clinic, you might catch him swinging his clubs at various golf courses around town.

Erik Starr, D.C.

“I’ve known that I wanted to be a chiropractor for many years. I had the privilege of growing up in a home where chiropractic was our primary health care. My parents and grandmother had a large influence in getting me where I am today as I’ve received chiropractic care ever since I was born. My desire to be in this profession really took hold during these years growing up under the care of chiropractors. It was a natural fit for me as I aspired to be part of a health care system that is holistic and patient-centered. Being a chiropractor allows me to use my God-given gifts and passions to serve others with my hands. Alleviating pain, improving function and educating patients on how to live a healthier lifestyle is what drives me every day to bring the best care I can as part of a well-rounded team of providers at Team Health Care Clinic.”

Dr. Erik Starr is passionate about chiropractic neurology and has accumulated over 300 hours of post doctorate training in in this area. Dr. Starr is working towards his Diplomate in Chiropractic Neurology. He has a gift for helping patients with neurological and brain-based disorders and brain injuries including dizziness, vertigo and balance, ADD, ADHD, Autism and Asperger’s, anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury and post-concussive disorders.

When not in the clinic or furthering his education, you can find Dr. Starr spending time with his family and friends, playing or watching volleyball, coaching basketball, and rooting for Minnesota sports teams. Dr. Starr and his wife, Lexi, reside in Andover.
